How to Decorate for Fall

How to Decorate Your Home for Fall

With the year coming to a close and fall beginning, it’s time to decorate your home! Fall is a season for gathering, celebrating, and feeling festive with those you love. While it’s not a necessity, decorating your home to match the season heightens any event you plan or host! At Impression, we’re always ready to welcome the holiday seasons with open arms. Here are some tips for decorating your home this fall, whether it be for a family get-together you’re hosting or just so you can feel in the spirit!

Feel the Festivities

First and foremost, feel the festivities of the season! For October, choose Halloween decorations. They don’t have to even be scary; a few pumpkins are more than enough. As November approaches, Thanksgiving decorations are a must. Consider items like cornucopias, gourds, pinecones, and farmhouse vibes. Many of these can be created as part of a family activity, like carving pumpkins together, making them an especially great way to get ready for the holiday season.

Embrace Fall Colors

The next step for decorating your home for fall is to match the interior decor to the seasonal changes outside. Red, orange, yellow, brown — the colors of falling leaves are always ideal options for decorating with. Not only are these fall colors, but they feel cozy and are likely to warm up your home. Additionally, greenery and neutral, earthy colors always add to a home, especially around this time of year.

Reimagine Your Entryway

Your entryway and front door are the first impressions guests have of your home when they visit. To embrace fall, you’ll want to gather pumpkins, gourds, and flower arrangements for your front patio. You can choose to put them in or atop wooden crates for an added touch, and include lanterns for an especially warm and glowy feel. Many also choose to add autumn wreaths to their doors.

Set a Seasonal Table

Where you eat every night sets the tone for your home, so why not make it seasonal as well? Start by adding a festive table runner. If you’re not into over-the-top decor, a simple woven one will do. From there, add a festive centerpiece and holiday-inspired dishes, trays, and platters. Don’t be afraid to embrace metallic colors; copper, gold, and even silver are very festive and add that extra flair.

Light Up the Chimney

Nothing says the holiday seasons are here like a nice fire! If the weather allows, enjoy a cool night with a live fireplace. For gathering around a fireplace, have plenty of cozy items nearby, like floor pillows, knit blankets, and mantel decorations. Grab a cup of hot apple cider or hot chocolate and enjoy!
